Summer Squash Sensation

A dog food recipe filled with fresh zucchini and green beans straight from the garden!

Thanks to a super kind cousin of mine, I had an abundance of fresh zucchini last night and put them to work! This recipe also includes apples, and my dogs were huge fans. I love the extra water content in the veggies to help keep them hydrated in the hot weather.

1.5 pounds of ground beef.

3 cups of chopped zucchini (Make sure to remove the seedy section. I just cut the zucc in long quarter slices and use a spoon to scoop that seedy part out).

2 cups of fresh or frozen string beans

2 cups carrots fresh or frozen

1 cup of apple pieces, cored and peeled. Cut the pieces into little baby pieces.

3 teaspoons of egg shell calcium

1 cup of oatmeal

In your pressure cooker or slow cooker, add 1 cup of water and all the ingredients except the oatmeal.

Cook for 12 minutes using the pressure cooker or 4 to 6 hours on low with the slow cooker. The beef needs to be cooked and the veggies super soft before it’s done but not burned.

Mash everything with a potato masher once done. Add in the oatmeal and let it all cool down. The oats will thicken up, absorbing lots of excess liquid.

Store in the fridge. Serve cold or at room temperature.

It is equal to the measurement you give your pup of dry dog food.
